5. Genisio Drops Out; Supports "D"em over "d"em: Jim Geniso, a real social justice fighter for whom I have a great deal of respect, announced that he was dropping out of the 54th District race because another Democrat decided to run. He claims he would have supported me had I run as a Democrat:
http://www.tonypalmeri.com/genisio.htm

As wise a man as Mr. Genisio is, apparently he's never learned the difference between a "Democrat" and a "democrat." I am the latter, which is clear to everyone following this race. Many Democrats, Republicans, and Independents actually consider themselves to be democrats (that is, "small d" democrats). I urge all of them to learn more about the Greens--we ARE the small d democrats today.

If you think Greens can't win, check out this piece by Amy Heart:
http://www.fightingbob.com/article.cfm?articleID=211
And note that so far there are 264 Green candidates running for office throughout the USA in 2004:
http://www.greens.org/elections/

WE'RE GREEN, WE'RE GROWING, AND WE'RE NOT GOING AWAY. Long after the establishment parties have gone the way of the Whigs, we'll still be plugging away for social and economic justice, environmentalism, peace and nonviolence, and grassroots democracy.

6. Palmeri Shifts Opinions At Vietnam Debate:
http://www.tonypalmeri.com/vietnamdebate.htm

7. Palmeri, Russ Darrow Debate Patriot Act: Well, not exactly. The Advance-Titan asked me to write a 250 word piece in opposition to the Patriot Act. Turns out they asked Russ Darrow, auto sales magnate turned Republican candidate for US Senate, to write in support of it. Here are the pieces:
http://www.advancetitan.com/story.asp?issue=11027&story=3041

8. May 10-14 is "Cover the Uninsured Week": Well, we have 43 million people without health insurance, but where else in the world could you get a "Cover the Uninsured Week?" Wisconsin Representative Tammy Baldwin is using the week the announce "Health Security for all Americans" legislation, which would "provide comprehensive health care by guaranteeing a minimum benefit package equal to the benefits offered to Members of Congress." Here's her press release:
http://tammybaldwin.house.gov/columns_display_page.asp?page=columndisplay&type=3&releaseid=52
Can't wait to hear the editorialists at the local press refer to Baldwin's plan as some kind of socialist plot. Prediction: Iraq will have national health care before the United States does (possibly paid for by US tax dollars).

9. Great New Kurt Vonnegut Essay: At age 81, Kurt hasn't lost any of that charming cynicism that has influenced so many of us over the years:

10. Save the Date! Thursday, June 3rd@4 p.m.: On that day the Time For Tony campaign will be having a garden party/cook out at my home (212 W. Parkway Ave. Oshkosh). Details will follow!

Peace,
-Tony
