1. An Update on the Updates: Between now and November 2, 2004 expect to see fewer of these updates. On September 8th I resume full-time teaching at UW Oshkosh while trying to maintain full-time campaigning for the 54th Assembly District. I think that's how "sheer insanity" is defined in the dictionary. We are having lots of fun though. Running as a Green Party candidate provides the luxuries of (a.) being able to speak the truth, (b.) being surrounded by enthusiastic volunteers who believe that real democracy is possible, (c.) not having to worry about offending the only three people who matter in Madison (Gard, Doyle, Panzer). We spent the bulk of the summer engaged in door-to-door campaigning, dropping thousands of pieces of literature and having hundreds of conversations. Most of my volunteers are fairly new to political activism, and the door campaign has been like a democracy workshop for them. To borrow a phrase that I don't particularly care for (but which is entirely appropriate here), we are having some wonderful "teaching moments."

3. Green Party Presidential Candidate David Cobb to Appear in Oshkosh: Our presidential candidate is coming to Oshkosh to help build the local Green Party. David is an electrifying speaker, and Carol Rittenouse (6th Congressional District candidate) and I are very much looking forward to sharing the stage with him. Here's the press release: http://www.tonypalmeri.com/cobb2.htm and an announcement:

4. Letters For Palmeri: Andy Sabai says Palmeri and Russ Feingold are the best choices in November. Here's Andy's letter (scroll down): http://www.wisinfo.com/northwestern/news/opinion/stories/opinion_17634970.shtml

Meanwhile Ellen Robertson wrote an excellent letter identifying Palmeri as the candidate of the workers: http://www.tonypalmeri.com/lettersforpalmeri5.htm

5. The State of Working Wisconsin: The latest numbers found by the editors are shocking: http://www.cows.org/pdf/jobs/soww/pr-soww-04.pdf
