Palmeri The Candidate Of The Worker
Printed in the September 6, 2004 Oshkosh Northwestern
As we approach Labor Day, I would like to urge all Oshkosh workers to support
Green Party candidate Tony Palmeri in this years
election for the 54th assembly district.
Tony Palmeri is a fighter for workers rights. He is a union member, served
for 5 years as President of the UW Oshkosh chapter of the Association of University
of Wisconsin Professionals, and has been an outspoken critic of flawed trade
policies like NAFTA and GATT that have driven good paying jobs out of our community.
At a July candidates forum, Tony Palmeri
identified protecting the right of workers to organize as a key to developing
well paying jobs in our region. Palmeri also supports and will fight for guaranteed,
universal health care for all citizens regardless of their age or employment
status, jobs that pay living wages, and a tuition freeze so that more citizens
will be able to attend college.
Tony Palmeris dad was a shoemaker and his mom a McDonalds employee.
He worked his way through college and is now in his 15th year as a professor
at UW Oshkosh. He is a respected teacher with a reputation for demanding that
students work hard for their grades.
Finally, Tony Palmeri is working hard to earn our votes. He has visited many
households during the campaign, and will continue to do so even when he goes
back to full-time teaching in September. We need a hard worker like Tony Palmeri
representing us in the Assembly.
