Genisio Drops Out
May 6, 2004
Since I declared I was running for the assembly in the 54th district several things have happened.
Most important Dr. Tony Palmeri declared that he will run on the Green Party ticket. Dr. Palmeri and I agree on many, perhaps most issues. I wish that he had run as a Democrat. I would have supported him. But the Green Party cannot win. Dr. Palmeri will only take votes away from the Democratic candidate making it more difficult to unseat Representative Underheim. I wish this was not true but wishing it will not make it untrue.

There is now another candidate for the Democratic nomination, Gordon Hintz. When I decided to run again I had no idea anyone else wanted the Democratic nomination. I do not know Gordon Hintz. I presume he is a good, loyal, solid Democrat.
Therefore I am withdrawing from the race for the 54th assembly seat primarily because I know how difficult it will be for me to defeat Underheim with Palmeri now in the race splitting the anti-Underheim vote. I am sure Underheim looks forward to three way debates; what b etter way to split the ani-Underhim vote. Who can blame him?
I would still feel honor bound to run if there was not another Democrat in the race to take my place but now there is. I will support him.
I will continue to work for and support the Democratic Party as I have all my life and to explore my opinions primarily in the fields of politics and religion.
I express my thanks to all who have supported me. There is no way I can thank you properly.
God Bless You All.
