Common Council Workshop, Town Hall Meeting Set For August

CONTACT: Paul Esslinger pesslinger@new.rr.com

The Oshkosh Common Council will be holding a workshop on August 10th immediately following their regular meeting to discuss the different elements of local government. There will be three experts in the field of local government to discuss these elements. These people have lengthy resumes, but I'll summarize (quite a bit) their credentials:

  1. James Simmons: Professor of Political Science and American Government, UWO
  2. David Jones: Professor of Public Administration, American Government, Political Theory, and Political Science, UWO
  3. Steven Hintz: Former Mayor of Oshkosh, Professor Emeritus, Master Professor of Political Science UWO and currently works in promoting professional local government and public administration.

There will be no public input at the Council workshop.

This workshop will be televised live August 10th (immediately following the regular Council meeting) and replayed:

There will also be a town hall meeting regarding what form of government the residents of Oshkosh would like to have. This meeting will be held at City Hall (215 Church Ave, 4th floor) on Wednesday August 18th from 7pm-9pm.

This meeting is the opportunity for the residents of the City of Oshkosh to come and listen to the same experts that will be at the Council workshop, and to voice their opinion of what type of government the City of Oshkosh should have. The first part of the meeting will be the experts informing the audience of different forms of government, followed by a question and answer session.

All Oshkosh residents are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting to let their opinions be known!!!!

Sincerely yours,

Paul Esslinger
